This poster demonstrates the different and up and coming views of women during World War I and World War II. This poster was an American wartime propaganda poster created in 1942 however it was rediscovered in the 1980's. This poster has bright colors and clear large font. This poster inspires women empowerment and it is assumed that it was used to inspire women workers to join the war effort.
This poster from World War I is a Soviet photomontage from 1936. This poster shows many Soviet people, workers etc but above all of them taking of the poster is a large human figure, Joseph Stalin. The photomontage was popular in Russia and Europe during WWI. The method of photomontage is the process and result of making a composite

This is a 1850's Japan poster which was created after Japan's borders opened for the first time since 1637. These prints were exported and said to have inspired the graphs of many famous artists including Van Gogh. These posters were used as advertisements for all different things like theater and teahouse girls. These Ukiyo-e paintings featured the traditions elements of emaki and decorative design.
This is an advertisement poster from 1906 designed by Lucien Bernhard. The original advertisement featured an entire scenario with a table and matches with smoke that transformed into a beautiful women. However, the scenario was distracting the consumer. When looking at the advertisement the viewer focuses on many other things other than the matches. So Lucien Bernhard reduced the design to a more realist focus, only featuring the name and the matches.
This is a Belgium poster from designer Privat-Livemont in 1889. The design of the poster combined the romance of the
Pre-Raphaelites and the sensuous style of Art Nouveau along with some of the styles from the Ukiyo-e prints. The colors of this poster are similar to those of the Ukiyo-e prints. This poster is said to be exploiting the woman because of the size of the advertising the Casino de Cabourg. Also, her costume, her "companions" are said to be exploiting women.
